If you are looking for a place to eat in Cornwall with a stunning sea view, come and dine at The Bay Hotel’s Hevva Restaurant.
Our team will provide you with a warm Cornish welcome and you can relax with a glass of wine or two, and a delicious dinner in our comfortable dining room, or outside on the terrace if the weather permits. Enjoy spectacular views across the sparkling waters of Coverack Bay and Coverack’s historic harbour. Our Hevva menu reflects the abundance of fresh seafood on offer in the area, much of it sourced locally and sustainably from Coverack’s fishermen. In fact our lobster and Cornish king crabs are supplied by Lew who lives just next door!
We cater for all dietary requirements. Please contact us to book a table and let us know if you have any specific dietary requests.
We look forward to welcoming you to Hevva.
The Origins of Hevva
The word Hevva comes from the ancient Cornish tradition of the cry raised by huers, whose job it was to alert fishermen that a shoal of pilchards had been spotted, signalling for fishermen to man their boats.
Pilchard fishing and processing was a major industry in Cornwall from around 1750 to 1880 and the survival of many Cornish people was dependent on the arrival of the pilchard shoals. The shoals would arrive just in time to prevent near starvation for many Cornish people in the winter if the crops had failed, hence the importance of the huers.
Fisherman still operate from Coverack’s stunning harbour and many of our dishes are based on catches from our local waters.
